Common questions about managed IT services in Alberta

Straight answers on pricing, onboarding, security, and how we work with businesses across Calgary, Edmonton, and Western Canada.

General

An MSP provides proactive IT management and support under a flat monthly fee. Instead of hiring an in-house IT team, you get a dedicated external team monitoring your systems, handling helpdesk requests, managing security, and planning infrastructure. Most MSPs operate 24/7. IT Works MSP includes helpdesk support, monitoring, cybersecurity, cloud platform management, Microsoft 365, and disaster recovery in standard packages.

We typically work best with mid-sized organizations where in-house IT is often expensive and unreliable, but complexity demands dedicated, proactive management. If you're smaller or much larger, we can still help contact us for a conversation.

Regular IT support companies typically respond to problems after they happen. They're reactive. We're proactive our team monitors your systems constantly, patches them automatically, tests disaster recovery, documents everything, and prevents problems from happening in the first place. You also get a dedicated account manager, not a rotating cast of technicians.

We're based in Airdrie, Alberta and serve Calgary, Edmonton, and surrounding areas. We also have expanding operations in Kelowna and Vancouver, BC. All management and support is delivered from Alberta or BC not offshore.

After your free IT assessment and agreement signing, we begin onboarding within one week. Initial environment setup and monitoring takes 2–4 weeks depending on size and complexity. Your helpdesk support and monitoring are active from day one.

Pricing

We charge a flat monthly per-user rate based on your employee count and service tier (Foundation, Standard, or Complete). Pricing is transparent and includes most services no per-incident charges or surprise fees. Exact pricing comes after your free IT assessment. Most businesses save money compared to hiring an in-house IT manager.

No setup fees. We build onboarding costs into the monthly service fee. If your environment requires significant remediation work (rebuilding from scratch, migrating from a completely broken system), we'll discuss that separately but standard onboarding is included.

Absolutely. Your monthly invoice adjusts with your headcount. If you hire 10 new people, the cost goes up 10 user slots. If you downsize, the cost goes down. No penalties. We build month-to-month flexibility into our standard contracts.

No additional charge for routine on-site visits within Alberta (Calgary, Airdrie, Edmonton area). If you need specialized work or have a specific project, we discuss that upfront. For remote troubleshooting, all support is included in your monthly fee.

Services

We review your current IT infrastructure, document existing systems, identify security gaps, assess disaster recovery readiness, and map your IT costs. You get a written report with specific recommendations and transparent pricing for managed IT services. Zero obligation to move forward.

No. Email security, endpoint protection, MFA, and regular security reviews are included in Standard and Complete service tiers. We don't charge extra for security it's a core part of responsible IT management, not an upsell.

Yes. M365 (Office 365) management, configuration, security hardening, and optimization are included in our service. We handle licensing, user management, Teams administration, SharePoint governance, and security settings. This is standard in all service tiers.

We monitor systems 24/7 and respond to critical incidents within minutes, any time of day or night. You have a phone number to call for urgent issues. For non-critical problems that happen after hours, we prioritize them in the morning queue. Critical incidents get immediate attention regardless of time.

Yes. If you have relationships with telecom providers, software vendors, or hardware manufacturers, we coordinate with them. We can take over vendor management entirely or work alongside your existing relationships whatever makes sense for your business.

Switching Providers

We handle the transition. We take inventory of your current systems, coordinate the handoff with your existing provider, and migrate everything to our platform. You stay operational the entire time. Most transitions take 2–4 weeks depending on environment complexity.

Typically 2–4 weeks for full transition and monitoring activation, depending on your environment size and the current state of your systems. We work around your business schedule to minimize disruption.

We plan transitions to avoid downtime. Critical systems stay running throughout. We migrate in phases so your business operation never stops. If a specific system does require a brief maintenance window, we schedule it with your team well in advance.
